Home > Adhesive Coating > Coating Companies – A Partner for Adhesive & Other Coatings

coating companiesManufacturers in a broad range of industries require the coating of various materials as a component of their finished product. Problem: this small component can cause a huge increase in the cost per unit and therefore, create a lower profit margin. This is the perfect scenario for a manufacturer to seek industrial coating companies with whom they can partner. At Conversion Technologies International, Inc., we can provide a valuable solution to those manufacturers.

We have the equipment, experienced technicians, research and development capabilities that may be the missing links in the manufacturing process for certain products. When a particular operation in the process requires specialized, expensive equipment and trained operators, it can become a major investment for the manufacturer. This can translate to lower profits at the bottom line. One way to cut these costs is to find the right partner offering the industrial coating services to handle that operation at a much lower cost than keeping it in-house.

You may already have invested in the equipment and manpower and are performing coating operations, but other issues may arise. When you have products with seasonal heavy volume, a tight deadline, or just need extra capacity from time to time, Conversion Technologies may be your answer. We can provide that temporary production capability for your coating needs on an as-needed basis.

Benefits of an Industrial Coating Company

An industrial coating company that acts on a contract basis can provide many benefits to save on the manufacturing costs of a particular product. They can:

  • Provide the expensive equipment necessary to handle the coating operation
  • Offer years of experience in coating to act as a consultant for complex processes
  • Help develop the most efficient method to coat a material in order to eliminate steps in the process
  • Supply the experienced technicians to handle the operation
  • Handle the entire process in their own facility, thus saving the manufacturer valuable square footage that they may utilize for more profitable activities
  • Take over a valuable step in the supply chain by receiving the raw material and returning it, after coating, to the original producer for completion
  • Offer valuable research and development facilities that may create an upgrade or improve the original product to increase market share over a competitor
  • Handle excess production when a company is facing a major deadline or needs additional capacity for seasonal orders

CTI is Among the Top Coating Companies in the Country and Here’s Why!

Our clients put their trust in our services because of our high standards and years of experience. We have been serving some of the largest companies in the country for more than 20 years. Our technicians and our facilities are top-notch. With the goal of providing manufacturing operations on a contract or toll basis, we have engineered our spaces using a modular approach. This has proven to allow us to quickly pivot from one operation to another, depending on the needs of our clients.

By serving a variety of industries, we must have the capabilities to process many diverse materials with a range of specialty coatings. We use many techniques in our coating process that allow us to offer completely customized solutions to our clients, including the use of specialized equipment such as:

  • Slot Die
  • Gravure Coater
  • Hot Roll Coater
  • Meyer rod
  • Knife-over-Roll Coater
  • Hot Melt Spray Coating

Armed with this variety of equipment, we can utilize hot melt adhesives and water-based systems.

We are proud to provide our services not only to Fortune 500 companies, but small companies and start-ups as well. In fact, smaller companies achieve many benefits by taking advantage of our facilities and research and development capabilities.

Our Process

Over the years, we have developed a five-step process that we utilize with every client. It enables us to evaluate the clients’ needs, ensure that we are the correct partner to fulfill their needs and that our services will provide a new, improved or top-quality process within their supply chain.

For every client, we use the following approach:

Initial Consultation

Our first step is critical…to determine through an honest discussion that we have matching capabilities to the needs of the client. We want to be able to ensure that their product will have a better outcome because of our techniques, equipment or ideas. The success of our client’s product is always the foremost goal of this meeting.

Research & Development

The next step is not taken by many contract coating companies. They take on any project that comes their way, whether they offer any added value or not. At times, a client may need a partner to help with developing a new product or improving an existing application. Some may even have an idea, but are running into a manufacturing process issue and need fresh ideas or solutions.

Many companies do not have the budget nor the desire to create an on-site R&D department. The cost of maintaining state-of-the-art equipment and a knowledgeable staff may not make it a feasible option. That’s where our partnership can provide valuable benefits. If the main concern is a new material or a new design, we have the facility in which to perform the necessary testing of various options, so that the process will go smoothly when implemented.

Lab Testing/Sample

We strongly believe that a sample upfront is valuable to ensure a high-quality result from the actual production run. We avoid problems later on, by inspecting samples carefully in the early stages. It is easier to test and re-test than to identify a major problem after using expensive materials in a more extensive production scenario.

Pilot Run

Since the final production run is expensive, we eliminate any possibility of a problem by completing a limited-quantity “pilot run” in order to ensure a smooth production run. We never waste money by jumping, as many others do, from research to production. This can create a wasteful scenario, where you must go back to square one and look at an issue after producing items that must go to the scrap pile.

After our successful pilot run, we are ready for a full production run.

Production

Since we have planned our steps carefully, the production run is anti-climactic. We know that it will be a success and that the products will be market-ready, or ready for the next step in the supply chain. We have avoided expensive problems and can relax and enjoy a stress-free production run.

CTI Meets Industry Standards for Your Products

We proudly adhere to manufacturing standards for most industries, so that you can be assured that your product meets those guidelines for any services that we provide.

We meet the standards of the ASME – American Society of Mechanical Engineers, The ASTM – American Society for Testing and Materials, The ISO – International Organization for Standardization and the SAE – Society of Automotive Engineers.

Conversion Technologies Offers Additional Services

In addition to contract coating, we offer Lamination and Die Cutting and Slitting services.

Lamination

Our techniques include hot roll and belt lamination. Hot roll is preferable when working with adhesive film or web-type adhesive in roll form. We can also produce stretchable or breathable sheet goods by utilizing a belt laminator.

Die Cutting and Slitting

We are able to cut from sheet or rolled form using our flat-bed die cutters. Our range of customization is almost endless, since we are capable of cutting materials up to 5/8” thick and can handle sheet sizes up to 40” x 60” and rolled materials up to 60” wide. Custom sheeting is available and we can convert diverse materials, including cardboard, vinyl, textiles and foam.

Although we focus on automotive, office furniture and partitions and construction industries for these services, we offer some of the best slitting and die cutting technologies in the country to our diverse clientele.
